In the past month, the wholesale price of natural gas has risen from 32 euros per MWh to 35 euros per MWh, with further increases to approximately 40 euros per MWh due to geopolitical tensions and maintenance works in Norway. This price surge follows the European Commission's decision to halt Russian gas imports.
Despite the rising prices, the filling rate of gas storages has improved by eleven percent, enhancing supply security. However, the price spread between summer and winter natural gas remains insufficient to incentivize companies to independently fill their gas storages.
On the electricity market, there have been numerous instances of negative pricing, with households on dynamic contracts benefiting financially during these periods. The Monitor on the consumer energy market indicates that while variable contract prices have remained stable, new fixed contract prices have increased by one to two percent compared to the previous month.
ACM continues to monitor energy supplier prices closely, revealing that several suppliers, including Kikker Energie and Groenpand Energie, are charging significantly higher prices for their contracts compared to competitors. This includes both dynamic and variable contracts, which are mandated by law to be offered by all energy suppliers.
