The 24th Annual Conference of the International Competition Network (ICN) took place from May 6 to 9, 2025, in Edinburgh, United Kingdom. This significant event gathered representatives from national competition authorities, international experts, and various stakeholders to discuss pressing issues in competition policy.
During the conference, participants engaged in plenary discussions and thematic workshops, addressing key topics such as the role of competition in promoting innovation and economic growth, the challenges posed by digital markets, public procurement, and the fight against anticompetitive agreements. These discussions highlighted the current challenges faced by competition agencies worldwide.
The Croatian Competition Agency was represented by Sandi Valentinc, head of the Department for International and European Cooperation, and Mislav Kršulović, head of the Digital Affairs Department. They took part in the ICN Technologist Forum and contributed to a workshop focused on the perspectives of younger and smaller agencies in shaping a new competition agenda.
Participation in the ICN conference not only strengthened international cooperation but also provided Croatian representatives with valuable insights into the latest global trends and methodologies in competition policy implementation. Such events are crucial for enhancing professional capacities and ensuring more effective competition policies, ultimately leading to a more competitive market environment that benefits consumers.
