On World Consumer Rights Day, ACM launches a video explaining consumers' telemarketing rights and actions taken against misleading practices.

The Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) is addressing consumer complaints about telemarketing calls by enforcing rules to protect consumers. ACM has imposed fines on companies engaging in misleading and aggressive telemarketing practices. Consumers have the right to object to telemarketing calls and are entitled to a cooling-off period if they regret agreeing to an offer. Energy contracts sold over the phone have been a major concern, with ACM advocating for a ban on such sales due to high tariffs and deceptive practices by some energy companies like 'Hollandse Energie Maatschappij' (HEM).
