The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) is seeking input from retailers, banks, and other stakeholders regarding a proposed undertaking from Linfox Armaguard Pty Ltd. This undertaking pertains to interim pricing, service offerings, and national coverage related to cash distribution services.
The proposed measures also include provisions for complaints handling, dispute resolution, and independent audits. If accepted, these measures will be in effect while the ACCC evaluates long-term pricing and service levels for Armaguard's services.
Recently, the Reserve Bank of Australia designated Linfox Armaguard under the Cash Distribution Framework Act 2026, making it subject to ACCC oversight. ACCC Chair Gina Cass-Gottlieb emphasized the importance of reliable cash access for consumers and businesses, highlighting the need for stakeholder feedback during this critical period.
The ACCC is also considering whether to utilize its interim directions powers to ensure that designated entities provide necessary cash distribution services during the assessment of the proposed undertaking. The deadline for submissions is set for 16 October 2026.
