Amazon Fined 31 Million PLN for Misleading Practices

The President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) imposed a fine on Amazon for misleading consumers by providing false information about product availability and delivery times.

The President of UOKiK, Tomasz Chróstny, fined Amazon EU SARL for engaging in misleading practices, including dark patterns, which pressured consumers into making purchases based on inaccurate information. Amazon's practices included not considering the order confirmed until the product was actually shipped, misleading consumers about product availability and delivery times, and not clearly disclosing the terms of their "Delivery Guarantee" service. The fine imposed on Amazon amounts to over 31 million PLN. The decision is subject to appeal.
