Competition Council Reduces Fine for Švyturys-Utenos Alus for Obstructing Investigation

The Competition Council has reduced the fine for Švyturys-Utenos Alus, a beverage producer in Lithuania, after the company obstructed an investigation by deleting relevant information and failing to provide requested data.

The Competition Council conducted an inspection at Švyturys-Utenos Alus and found that the company had deleted information during the investigation and did not comply with the obligation to provide requested data. As a result, the company hindered the investigation activities of the Authority's officials. Švyturys-Utenos Alus admitted to violating the Law on Competition and cooperated with investigators, leading to a reduction in the fine imposed on the company to EUR 810,790. The Competition Council emphasized the importance of cooperation during investigations but stated that it will continue to rigorously assess similar obstruction actions by companies in the future.
