The President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) imposed fines on Lord and Polskie Sklepy Odzieżowe (Lavard) for deceiving consumers about the fabric content of their clothing. Inspections and lab tests confirmed the misrepresentation, resulting in fines exceeding 3.8 million PLN and over 213,000 PLN for the respective businesses.

This case underscores the critical role of precise labeling in providing consumers with accurate information. It also highlights the severe repercussions of providing misleading details, emphasizing the need for businesses to ensure transparency in their product descriptions to avoid penalties and maintain consumer confidence.

Competition law advisors should stress the significance of truthful product information to prevent violations and safeguard consumer trust, as demonstrated by the actions taken by UOKiK against the clothing retailers.
