The Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) has released the tariff proposals from system operators for the year 2027. These proposals will be evaluated by ACM, which is expected to make a decision in November 2026.
According to ACM's earlier estimates, Dutch households and businesses connected to regional electricity and natural gas networks will see an average increase of 20 percent in transport costs next year. This translates to an additional cost of approximately 89 euros per year for electricity and 52 euros for natural gas for the average household.
The rise in electricity transport tariffs is largely attributed to the substantial investments required to expand and upgrade the currently congested grid. System operators are expected to undertake significant investments in new cables, compact transformer substations, and high-voltage stations over the coming years. Meanwhile, as households and businesses consume less natural gas, the costs associated with the natural gas network will need to be distributed among a diminishing number of users.
ACM ensures that system operators are only compensated for efficient costs through these tariffs, aiming to maintain fairness and transparency in the pricing structure.
