CNMC Releases Provisional Settlements for Electricity and Gas Sectors in 2025
The Spanish competition authority, CNMC, has published provisional settlements for the electricity and gas sectors for 2025, highlighting significant financial discrepancies and sector performance.

The Comisión Nacional de los Mercados y la Competencia (CNMC) has released the provisional settlements for the electricity and renewable energy sectors and the gas sector for 2025. The ninth settlement for the electricity sector shows a temporary deviation of -1,806.79 million euros, with total revenues of 8,959.80 million euros against costs of 10,766.58 million euros.
In the electricity sector, the demand reached 156,087 GWh, and the accumulated settlement was affected by a coverage coefficient of 80.23%. The total for renewable energies, cogeneration, and waste from January to September 2025 amounted to 3,429.49 million euros, with most payments coming from the electricity sector.
For the gas sector, the twelfth settlement reported total revenues of 1,887.46 million euros, which is 10.8% lower than the previous year. The demand for gas in the 2025 gas year was 288.7 TWh, showing an increase compared to the previous year. The report also details various categories of liquidable revenues and discrepancies in the gas sector.
