The Croatian Competition Authority (AZTN) has launched an administrative procedure against AGRONOM d.o.o., a buyer based in Požega, to investigate whether the company has exploited significant negotiating power to impose unfair trading practices on its suppliers of agricultural and food products.

This action was initiated by AZTN on its own accord, following a market investigation into agricultural and food products and a review of compliance with the Law on Prohibition of Unfair Trading Practices in the Food Supply Chain (ZNTP). During this investigation, indications were found that AGRONOM d.o.o. may have acted contrary to the provisions of the ZNTP.

It is important to note that the initiation of administrative proceedings against a specific buyer does not automatically imply a violation of the ZNTP. The AZTN is required to establish all relevant facts and circumstances, as well as concrete evidence that supports the indications that led to the initiation of the proceedings.

As part of the administrative procedure, AZTN will examine all elements related to the content and realization of business relationships between AGRONOM d.o.o. and its suppliers of agricultural and food products. A substantive decision will be made only after a complete factual determination.

Due to the protection of business secrets, AZTN cannot comment on or disclose details about the ongoing procedure. A substantive decision will be published on their website upon completion of the proceedings.
