The Spanish competition authority, CNMC, has released new statistics indicating that the number of fiber optic lines (FTTH) has reached 17.5 million as of August 2025. This marks a substantial growth in the broadband market, with 58,158 new lines added in the month alone.

Movistar continues to lead the market with 5.8 million FTTH lines, accounting for 32.9% of the total. The combined market share of Movistar, Vodafone, and MASORANGE stands at 82%, which increases to 94.1% when including DIGI.

In the mobile sector, the total number of mobile lines has reached 62.5 million, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 3.9%. Movistar, Vodafone, and MASORANGE dominate this market as well, holding 86.4% of the mobile lines, with DIGI pushing this figure to 97.5%.

Overall, the fixed broadband market continues to expand, with a total of 19.3 million lines reported, and the number of fixed voice lines has also increased to 17.6 million. The CNMC emphasizes the importance of maintaining competition in the telecommunications sector to benefit consumers.
