The Polish competition authority, UOKiK, has fined Aasa Polska approximately 3.87 million PLN for violating consumer interests by artificially inflating loan costs. The company required customers to purchase expensive additional services, such as medical subscriptions and language courses, to qualify for loans.

UOKiK's investigation revealed that these additional costs were automatically included in the loan amounts, leading to significant overcharges beyond legal limits. Customers reported being misled into paying for services they did not need or agree to, which were bundled with their loans.

UOKiK President Tomasz Chróstny stated that Aasa Polska's practices circumvented consumer credit regulations and anti-usury laws. The company misrepresented the total loan costs, misleading consumers about the actual expenses involved.

Aasa Polska is required to publish a notice of the UOKiK's decision on its website and social media for three months once the decision becomes final. The fine will be directed to the Financial Education Fund managed by the Minister of Finance and Economy.
