The Belgian Competition Authority approves the acquisition of Toyota Beerens and Nissan Beerens by 
the Maurin Group  
 
On 9 December 2024, the Belgian Competition Authority (“BCA”) approved the acquisition of sole control of Toyota 
Beerens and Nissan Beerens by the Maurin Group, through its Belgian subsidiary SAAEM Belgium. 
The concentration was  notified  on  28  November  2024  and the application  of  the  simplified  procedure  was 
requested. 
SAAEM Belgium operates a number of dealerships for the Mercedes, smart, Ford, Kia, Maxus, Suzuki and/or Nissan 
brands, located in the provinces of Limburg, Antwerp, Flemish Brabant, West Flanders and East Flanders.  
Nissan Beerens and Toyota Beerens operate Nissan and Toyota dealerships in Antwerp North and Antwerp South 
respectively. Toyota Beerens is also a dealer for the Fuso and Piaggio Commercial brands. 
The parties are active in the motor vehicle distribution sector and related services, namely the retail sale of new 
and  used  motor  vehicles,  maintenance  and  repair  services,  bodywork  and  the  distribution  of  spare  parts.  Their 
activities overlap in the markets for (i) the sale of new and used passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, (ii) 
the distribution of spare parts for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, and (iii) repair and maintenance. 
In its decision of 9 December 2024, the BCA found that the conditions for the application of the simplified procedure 
were met and that the notified concentration did not raise objections.

Belgian Authority Greenlights Maurin Group's Dealership Acquisition

On December 9, 2024, the Belgian Competition Authority (BCA) granted approval for the Maurin Group to acquire sole control of Toyota Beerens and Nissan Beerens through its subsidiary, SAAEM Belgium. This acquisition was notified on November 28, 2024, and the BCA applied a simplified procedure for the review.

 SAAEM Belgium operates several dealerships for various automotive brands, including Mercedes, smart, Ford, Kia, Maxus, Suzuki, and Nissan, across multiple provinces in Belgium. The dealerships involved in the acquisition, Toyota Beerens and Nissan Beerens, are located in Antwerp and specialize in the sale of new and used vehicles, as well as maintenance and repair services.

 The BCA's decision indicated that the acquisition did not raise any objections, as the conditions for the simplified procedure were met. The overlapping activities of the parties include the sale of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, distribution of spare parts, and repair and maintenance services.
