The Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority (FCCA) has announced an extension of the processing time limit for the merger between Loihde and BLC Turva, which is currently under investigation. The new deadline is set for May 27, 2026.

The FCCA initiated an in-depth investigation into the merger on January 13, 2026, as Loihde seeks to acquire BLC Turva. Both companies operate in the physical security market, providing electronic security technology, structural security systems, and related services. Additionally, Loihde is involved in the digital security sector.

Preliminary assessments by the FCCA indicated that the merger could negatively impact competition, particularly in the locking systems market across South Karelia, South Savo, and Central Finland.

On April 9, 2026, the FCCA requested an extension of the processing time limit, which was originally set to expire on April 22, 2026. The parties involved in the merger are currently working on commitments to address the competition concerns raised by the FCCA.

The Market Court approved the FCCA's request for an extension on April 10, 2026, with the parties expressing their support for the additional time.
