The Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) welcomed a high-level delegation from Georgia to Budapest, aiming to deepen professional cooperation between the two organizations. During the visit, a cooperation agreement was signed by GVH President Csaba Balázs Rigó and Irakli Lekvinadze, President of the Georgian Competition and Consumer Protection Agency.

The discussions covered various topics, including the findings from GVH's expedited sector investigations, methodologies for cartel detection, and experiences related to public procurement. Both authorities shared their insights on current competition policy and economic issues.

The GVH has maintained a close professional relationship with the Georgian competition authority for years, benefiting from the Budapest Regional Competition Training Center, which has been a hub for knowledge sharing in Eastern Europe and Western Asia since 2005.

The signed agreement emphasizes mutual professional communication, collaboration on complex competition cases, expert support, and knowledge sharing regarding the digitalization of authority procedures. President Rigó highlighted the importance of cooperation and dialogue in the current geopolitical and global economic context.

The GVH is committed to extensive international cooperation, having recently signed a similar agreement with the Greek competition authority. It actively participates in the European Competition Network (ECN) and the International Competition Network (ICN), with President Rigó being a permanent member of the steering group. The GVH also engages in international consumer protection networks and has operated a joint training center with the OECD in Budapest for two decades.
