02.04.2025 | Court of Justice of the EU
The Court of Justice of the European Union in Luxembourg is set to host the final of the prestigious European Law Moot Court competition tomorrow. This event, which will be broadcast live, highlights the Court's commitment to engaging young Europeans in legal education and advocacy.
The European Law Moot Court competition, the largest of its kind focused on EU law, was first organized during the 1988-1989 academic year. Its primary goal is to enhance practical knowledge of EU law among law students and to refine their advocacy skills. The final phase of the competition has been held at the Court since 1991.
This year, approximately 80 teams participated in a rigorous selection process that included both written and oral phases. The finalists represent six universities from various countries, having triumphed in regional finals held in Brno, Barcelona, Helsinki, and Lyon earlier this year.
Participants in this year's competition include students from both EU Member States and non-EU countries, such as the UK, Switzerland, the USA, and Azerbaijan, reflecting the international nature of the event. The final will feature teams pleading before juries composed of Members of the Court of Justice and the General Court.
Viewers can follow the live broadcast of the final through the provided link, further promoting the Court's motto of “Justice close to the citizen.”
