The Polish competition authority, UOKiK, is excited to announce the launch of the Summer Camp UOKiK 2025, a program recognized in the Competition Advocacy Contest 2024 for its innovative and engaging format.
This initiative provides law, economics, and related field students with a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience at one of Poland's key regulatory bodies. Over five days, participants will engage in workshops, analyze intriguing case studies, meet with experts, and have the chance to secure paid internships and long-term collaboration opportunities.
UOKiK President Tomasz Chróstny emphasized that the Summer Camp is a free, intensive course designed for top students, allowing them to understand the inner workings of the Office for Competition and Consumer Protection.
From September 15 to 19, 2025, students will participate in workshops and integration activities that foster valuable networking and experience exchange. This year's program will delve into competition protection topics, analyzing case studies related to abuse of dominance, cartels, and other unfair market practices, guided by UOKiK practitioners and invited guests.
The curriculum will cover a wide range of competition protection themes, from economic aspects to discussions on various types of unfair practices, including anti-competitive agreements and abuse of dominance. Sessions will also address search procedures at businesses, forensic computing, mystery shopping, open-source intelligence (OSINT), and methods used by UOKiK staff in evidence gathering.
Additionally, the program will discuss merger control, aimed at preventing excessive consolidation that significantly restricts market competition.
UOKiK is also running other educational projects, including competitions for the best master's and doctoral theses on competition and consumer protection. Winners will receive cash prizes, publication opportunities in the UOKiK Library, and paid internships for master's competition laureates. Submissions for master's theses are open until November 28, 2025, and for doctoral theses until November 30, 2027. More details are available on the UOKiK website.
