The Slovak competition authority, known as PMÚ, has announced that the current EU regulation on state aid will remain in effect until December 31, 2026. Following this, a new regulation regarding group exemptions is expected to be implemented starting October 1, 2027.

In anticipation of this change, PMÚ recommends that state aid providers begin drafting proposals for new aid schemes based on the forthcoming regulation. The authority advises against amending existing schemes due to significant changes in the legal framework and the need for clear identification of new aid schemes.

Once the new regulation is approved and published by the European Commission, PMÚ will promptly inform aid providers through its website and a network of contact persons for state aid. Interested parties can subscribe to updates on state aid through the PMÚ website to receive timely information regarding the new regulation.
