The Italian Competition Authority has launched an investigation into Poltronesofà S.p.A. over suspected unfair commercial practices related to its advertising methods. The investigation focuses on the company's failure to accurately display prices and discounts in its promotional campaigns across various media, including TV, radio, social media, and the internet.
According to the Authority, Poltronesofà has been accused of emphasizing significant price reductions and discounts in its marketing, often accompanied by time-sensitive slogans like 'ending Sunday.' However, these discounts are reportedly based on inflated strike-out prices that are rarely, if ever, applied in actual sales. This practice may have misled consumers into making purchasing decisions they would not have made otherwise.
As part of the investigation, officials from the Italian Competition Authority, supported by the Special Antitrust Unit of the Italian Financial Police, conducted an inspection at Poltronesofà's premises to gather further evidence regarding these allegations.
