A consortium comprising competition authorities from Lithuania, Romania, and Poland will collaborate on an EU Twinning project in Moldova. The initiative aims to bolster the institutional capacity of the Moldovan Competition Council in enforcing competition and state aid policies in line with EU best practices.

The project will focus on supporting the effective application of competition and state aid laws, enhancing the institutional and administrative capabilities of the Moldovan Competition Council, and aligning its functions with those of an EU-like competition agency. This initiative is crucial, especially with Moldova's recent commencement of accession negotiations with the EU.

The project, with a budget of €1.5 million funded by the European Commission, is set to commence in early October 2024 and will run for 27 months. The Romanian Competition Council, in collaboration with its Lithuanian and Polish counterparts, will spearhead the project's implementation, aiming to leverage their expertise and relationships for its success.
