The CNMC has announced the opening of a public hearing regarding the new circular on the methodology for compensating electricity distribution. This initiative is part of a participatory and open regulatory process, allowing stakeholders, institutions, and the public to provide their input.
The new methodology will determine the compensation calculation for electricity distribution activities for the regulatory period from 2026 to 2031. It replaces the existing Circular 6/2019 and aims to evolve towards a more efficient model that addresses the challenges of decarbonization and digitalization in the electrical system.
Modifications have been made to the new text based on observations received during the circular's drafting process, with the goal of reinforcing predictability and stability principles necessary for the electrification of demand. Given the timelines for the approval of this circular, the public hearing will be processed urgently, with the deadline for submitting observations set for Wednesday, October 22.
