The Comisión Nacional de los Mercados y la Competencia (CNMC) has announced the fifth provisional settlement for the electricity sector and the eighth for the gas sector for the year 2026. These reports reveal critical financial data and adjustments in both sectors.

In the electricity sector, the fifth settlement indicated a temporary deviation of -893.30 million euros, with total revenues of 5,465.02 million euros against costs of 6,358.32 million euros. This resulted in a coverage coefficient of 84.06%, reflecting temporary mismatches between income and costs as outlined in the relevant legislation.

For renewable energies, cogeneration, and waste, the fifth settlement totaled 2,405.52 million euros from January 1 to May 31, 2026. Of this amount, 2,376.13 million euros were covered by the electricity sector, while 29.39 million euros were funded by the state budget for specific installations in non-peninsular territories.

In the gas sector, the eighth settlement reported total revenues of 1,467.04 million euros, a 5.9% increase compared to the previous year. The report detailed various categories of liquidable income, including charges for the system and local networks, and highlighted a significant demand for gas, which reached 202.5 TWh, marking a 4.7% increase from the previous year.
