The President of the Polish competition authority (UOKiK) has issued 12 decisions regarding payment delays, imposing fines totaling over 3.2 million PLN. Additionally, investigations have been launched against 10 companies that are reportedly delaying payments to their contractors.
UOKiK President Tomasz Chróstny emphasized that payment delays are a significant issue for the Polish economy, increasing costs for suppliers and affecting employment and investment. Timely payments are crucial for the financial liquidity of smaller firms, making the fight against payment delays essential.
In September 2025, UOKiK initiated further proceedings against companies that are failing to meet their financial obligations. The companies involved include Cedo, Erontrans, Kalmar Poland, Nokia Solutions and Networks, and others.
Payment delays occur when the total of overdue payments over three months reaches at least 2 million PLN. UOKiK can initiate proceedings based on its analyses or reports from affected parties.
In addition to fines, UOKiK has issued soft interventions to 28 companies, aiming to raise awareness and encourage better payment practices without formal proceedings. Since the beginning of the year, nearly 160 soft interventions have been sent to businesses.
