A federal grand jury in Denver has indicted two companies, Endless Sales Inc. and Octane Forklifts, Inc., along with three of their executives for defrauding the U.S. government. The indictment alleges that they conspired to import forklifts from China, misrepresenting their origin as 'Made in America' to sell them to federal agencies.
The defendants are accused of creating fake invoices to undervalue the forklifts, resulting in over $1 million in unpaid tariffs and duties. The executives face additional charges of wire fraud and making false statements to the government.
Attorney General Pamela Bondi emphasized the importance of protecting American taxpayer dollars and national security, while Assistant Attorney General Abigail Slater highlighted the commitment of the Antitrust Division to prosecute procurement fraud. The case is part of a broader initiative by the Procurement Collusion Strike Force to combat antitrust crimes affecting government procurement.
If convicted, the individuals could face significant prison time and fines, while the corporations could incur hefty financial penalties. The investigation involved multiple law enforcement agencies, underscoring the collaborative effort to uphold integrity in public contracting.
