The Bundeskartellamt has granted approval for Georg von Holtzbrinck to take sole control of Zeitverlag Gerd Bucerius GmbH & Co. KG. This acquisition involves Holtzbrinck taking over the 50% stake previously held by Dieter von Holtzbrinck Medien GmbH.

Andreas Mundt, President of the Bundeskartellamt, stated that the acquisition poses no competitive concerns. Holtzbrinck has been involved with Zeitverlag for many years and is now transitioning from joint to sole control. Notably, Holtzbrinck does not have other activities in the regional daily or weekly newspaper sector.

Zeitverlag publishes the weekly newspaper “DIE ZEIT” and various magazines, including “ZEIT CAMPUS,” “ZEIT WISSEN,” and “ZEIT LEO.” Holtzbrinck has owned a stake in Zeitverlag since 1996, with Dieter von Holtzbrinck Medien GmbH acquiring a 50% share in 2009.

Georg von Holtzbrinck is an international media company involved in consumer publishing, science, digital media, and educational materials, in addition to its stake in Zeitverlag.
