The German competition authority has mandated that electricity reserve bids will no longer disclose their originating transmission network starting November 28, 2025, addressing competitive concerns.

The German competition authority, in coordination with the Federal Network Agency, has announced a significant change regarding the publication of electricity reserve bids by the four German transmission system operators (TSOs).

Effective from November 28, 2025, these TSOs will no longer indicate which of the four transmission networks, or 'control areas', the respective bid originates from. This decision aims to mitigate competitive concerns that have been raised.

The move is expected to enhance competition in the electricity market by reducing the identifiability of bids, thereby preventing potential anti-competitive behavior among the TSOs.
