Luxembourg recently hosted the EUROCOMP 2025, a unique event combining discussions on competition law with friendly sports competitions among various European competition authorities.

On July 4 and 5, 2025, the Luxembourg competition authority and the Court of Justice of the European Union co-hosted the EUROCOMP 2025 tournament, which featured both legal discussions and sporting events.

This year's event saw participation from seven national competition authorities, the Court of Justice of the European Union, the Directorate-General for Competition (DG Comp) of the European Commission, and the EFTA Surveillance Authority (ESA).

On the first day, teams engaged in a series of conferences focused on the theme: 'object restrictions: one step forward, two steps back?'. Keynote speeches were delivered by Mattia Melloni, a senior advisor at the authority, and Roberto Mastroianni, president of the 10th chamber of the Court of Justice. Sven Frisch, another senior advisor, discussed the topic of resale price maintenance (RPM).

The second day featured a friendly football tournament in Esch-sur-Alzette, where ten teams competed. A new rule this year required each team to include at least one female player, a position filled by Laura Mendez from the authority, alongside other team members. As per tradition, each group match began with a gift exchange between the teams.

All teams played valiantly, but the authority's team was eliminated in the quarter-finals, with the Court of Justice of the EU emerging as the tournament champion. The event concluded with a dinner and award ceremony in the heart of Luxembourg City.
