The Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) has published the tariff proposals for 2026 from distribution system operators and TenneT, the national high-voltage grid operator. Households and businesses connected to these systems are expected to see a 3.38% increase in transport costs for electricity and natural gas, translating to an average annual increase of about 25 euros.
Large businesses connected to TenneT's high-voltage grid will benefit from a decrease in tariffs, estimated at 10 to 12%. The costs incurred by system operators are shared among all grid users, which means that the proposed increases will affect everyone using these services.
ACM is set to review these tariff proposals and plans to release its decisions by late November. The decrease in TenneT's tariffs is attributed to increased grid usage, allowing allowed revenues to be spread over a larger volume of users. However, as the transition to sustainable electricity accelerates, the demand for natural gas is declining, leading to higher costs for maintaining the gas network, which will also result in increased tariffs in the coming years.
