The Portuguese competition authority, known as AdC, has announced the termination of the merger review for operation 89/2025, which involved the companies Alcon and STAAR. This decision was made by the Board of Directors on January 16, 2026.

According to the announcement, the termination was based on the conclusion that the notified concentration operation will not be carried out. The decision was made in accordance with the provisions of Articles 46 of the Competition Law and 95 of the Administrative Procedure Code.
