On October 3, 2025, the Greek competition authority initiated a full investigation regarding the acquisition of exclusive control by Allwyn International AG over Logflex MT Holding Limited (Novibet), as per Article 8, paragraph 4 of Law 3959/2011.

Allwyn, part of the Allwyn Group, is an international provider of gambling services operating in Greece through OPAP S.A. and its subsidiaries, offering both land-based and online gambling services, including sports betting and casino games.

Novibet specializes in online gambling, providing services for online betting and casino games under the brand name 'novibet'.

The preliminary assessment by the competition authority indicates serious doubts regarding the compatibility of the acquisition with competition requirements in relevant markets. It is estimated that post-acquisition, Allwyn's market share would exceed 70% in both the online betting and online casino markets, excluding poker games.

There are significant indications that the acquisition of Novibet would eliminate a key competitor that has altered market dynamics. Concerns have been raised about potential horizontal effects of non-coordinated behavior, as well as vertical effects between the affected markets and other related markets where the parties operate.

During the full investigation, the authority will assess whether the doubts regarding the acquisition's compatibility with competition requirements are confirmed. The parties involved may propose modifications or commitments to address these concerns.

The authority's decision on the acquisition will be issued within 90 days from the initiation of the full investigation process, and the initiation does not predetermine the final outcome of the assessment.
