The Lithuanian Competition Council has revised the fees associated with the examination of merger notifications and individual concentration actions. Starting March 1, 2025, the fee for examining a notification of concentration will be set at EUR 19,300, while the fee for individual concentration actions will be EUR 6,400. These new fees will remain in effect until February 28, 2026.
Previously, the fees were EUR 21,100 and EUR 7,000, respectively, which will continue to apply until February 28, 2025. The Competition Council determines these fees annually, based on the costs incurred in the previous year’s examinations.
Fees must be paid prior to submitting notifications or applications, and they are intended to cover the costs of the Competition Council's operations, including the need for specialized expertise in complex cases. In 2024, the Council reviewed 37 notifications, with one case not cleared due to competition concerns. Most cases were processed quickly, averaging 20 working days for clearance.
The requirement for businesses to notify intended transactions is crucial for assessing potential competitive impacts before market changes occur, ensuring that transactions do not adversely affect competition or consumers.
