UOKiK Launches 15th Competition for Best Master's Thesis on Competition Law

The Polish competition authority, UOKiK, invites law, economics, administration, and management graduates to submit their master's theses on competition and consumer protection for a chance to win cash prizes and internships.

The Polish competition authority, UOKiK, is hosting its 15th edition of the competition for the best master's thesis focused on competition protection and the 13th for consumer protection. The competition is open to graduates who have defended their theses between October 15, 2022, and October 15, 2023, and submissions are due by November 30, 2023.

Participants can submit theses written in Polish that address topics such as anti-competitive practices, merger control, state aid, or unfair use of contractual advantage in agricultural and food products for competition protection. For consumer protection, topics should include practices that violate collective consumer interests, unfair market practices, or prohibited contractual terms.

Winners in both categories will share a total prize pool of 40,000 PLN, with 7,000 PLN for first place, 5,000 PLN for second, and 3,000 PLN for third. Additionally, there is a special award of 5,000 PLN from the Competition Law Association. Winners will also have the opportunity for paid internships at UOKiK and publication of their work in the 'UOKiK Library' series.
