The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has cleared the proposed acquisition of Celtic Water Care Solutions Limited by CSG Chemical Solutions Limited (CSG). CSG, based in Shannon, Co. Clare, specializes in providing chemical solutions for the water treatment, environmental, and hygiene sectors.

Celtic Water Care Solutions, located in Co. Cork, offers advisory services and supplies chemicals for water treatment to various sectors including commercial and public entities. The proposed transaction was notified to the CCPC on January 6, 2026.

Initially, the CCPC conducted a Phase 1 investigation but later opened a Phase 2 investigation in May 2026 to assess potential competition concerns. The investigation involved gathering extensive information from the merging parties, customers, and other industry suppliers.

Ultimately, the CCPC concluded that the merger would not significantly lessen competition in the Irish market, allowing the deal to proceed. The full decision will be published on the CCPC's website within 60 working days, following the necessary redaction of confidential information.
