In the second quarter of 2025, Dutch consumers collectively consumed 719 million gigabytes of mobile data, marking a 16% increase from the previous quarter. This trend reflects a long-term growth in mobile data usage, which has doubled approximately every three years.

Despite a decline in voice calls and text messages over recent quarters, there was a slight uptick in these metrics in the last quarter. KPN and Odido remain the leading telecom operators in the mobile market, while Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs) have seen their market share grow from 15-20% to 20-25%, with an increase in active SIM cards.

The Telecom Monitor also highlights advancements in fiber-optic connections, with 8.6 million established and plans for 3.36 million addresses. The number of subscribers increased by 2.8% compared to the last quarter, with a majority opting for download speeds between 100 and 1,000 Mbps. The market share of KPN and VodafoneZiggo in the broadband sector remains strong at 35-40%.

ACM publishes the Telecom Monitor quarterly, providing insights into trends and developments in the telecom sector, based on data submitted by major market participants.
