Doug Gurr has today [Friday 27 February 2026} been confirmed as the new chair of the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).



He will lead the CMA for a five year term, continuing the work he undertook as intermin chair, to boost growth and business confidence while ensuring consumers remain protected - all delivered in partnership with CMA Chief Executive Sarah Cardell,

Doug Gurr has been confirmed as the new Chair of the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) as of February 27, 2026. He will serve a five-year term in this leadership position.

During his tenure, Gurr aims to enhance growth and bolster business confidence while ensuring consumer protection remains a priority. He will work closely with CMA Chief Executive Sarah Cardell to achieve these goals.
