Interior company Hübsch coordinated prices and exchanged price information with a competitor, resulting in the introduction of a Covid-19 fee and general price increases on most of its products.

19.03.2024 | Danish competition authority

The interior company Hübsch, known for producing kitchen accessories, tableware, furniture, and other home decor items, engaged in cartel behavior by coordinating prices and sharing price information with competitor Broste Copenhagen. This led to the implementation of a Covid-19 fee and price hikes on a majority of Hübsch's products. The Competition Council found Hübsch in violation of competition rules for this coordination, which took place from January 2021 to at least July 2021. Broste Copenhagen admitted to breaching competition rules in April 2023 and accepted a fine of six million Danish kroner. The Competition Council will bring the case against Hübsch to the Maritime and Commercial High Court, seeking a penalty.
