On June 5, 2024, the Board of Directors of the Competition Authority, in the exercise of the powers conferred upon it by paragraph d) of paragraph 1 of article 19 of the Statutes, approved by Decree-Law no. 125/2014, of 18 August, decides to adopt a decision of non-opposition to the concentration operation, under the terms of paragraph b) of number 1 of article 50 of the Competition Law, since it is not susceptible to create significant impediments to effective competition in the national market or in a substantial part of it.

The Portuguese Competition Authority (AdC) has issued a non-opposition decision for the merger between Merz and Acorda*Civitas. This decision means that the merger has been approved without any conditions or restrictions.

 The AdC made this decision based on its assessment that the merger is unlikely to create significant obstacles to competition in the national market or a substantial part of it. This indicates that the AdC does not foresee any major antitrust issues arising from this consolidation.
