On May 30, 2025, the Hungarian competition authority, known as GVH, hosted a delegation from the market supervision authority of Henan province, China. The meeting focused on various topics including the characteristics of market competition, potential opportunities in the commercial and investment environment, and current issues in consumer protection.
Henan province, with a population of nearly 100 million, is considered the cradle of Chinese civilization and is the third most populous province in China, serving as a significant economic, commercial, and industrial hub. The visit aimed to explore potential cooperation opportunities between Henan and Hungary in trade and investment.
During the half-day visit, the Chinese delegation received an overview of GVH's activities, key features of Hungarian competition law, European competition regulations, and the international relations and roles of the national competition authority. The GVH expressed its commitment to developing international relations and emphasized the importance of such professional meetings to strengthen competition law and policy cooperation with authorities from other countries.
In recent years, GVH has hosted several international knowledge-sharing events and has actively participated in building international relations. Notably, Budapest hosted the 50th European Competition Day in October 2024, and in April 2025, GVH organized a presidential-level professional meeting among competition authorities of the Turkic States Organization. Additionally, GVH played a significant role in the annual meeting of global competition authorities in early May 2025, receiving multiple recognitions for its contributions.
