GVH Provides Tips for Safe Black Friday Shopping

14.11.2024 | Hungarian competition authority

The Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) launches an informative campaign to help consumers avoid misleading offers and make informed decisions during the Black Friday season.

The Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) has initiated an informative campaign to guide consumers on how to avoid deceptive offers and make conscious purchasing decisions during the Black Friday season. The campaign aims to prevent unpleasant surprises and ensure that consumers benefit from discounts under fair conditions.

GVH advises consumers to be cautious and vigilant by checking for the presence of customer service and contact information at stores, familiarizing themselves with the key sections of the General Terms and Conditions, and understanding their right of withdrawal within 14 days of receiving a product when shopping online.

In addition, consumers are encouraged to first address any post-purchase issues with the merchant and submit complaints in writing. If uncertain about a store's reliability, it is recommended to consult the database of online shops that have committed violations.

GVH also supports businesses by providing instructional videos to help them comply with regulations related to promotions. The national competition authority welcomes reports on cases affecting market competition and offers detailed guidance to consumers on possible steps and assistance from other organizations.
