On September 25, 2026, the Croatian Parliament reappointed Dr. Mirta Kapural as the President of the Croatian Competition Council based on a proposal from the Government of the Republic of Croatia.

This marks the beginning of her second term, having first been appointed on October 1, 2021. Her reappointment signifies continuity in the Council's work and acknowledges her extensive experience in competition law and policy.

Dr. Kapural expressed gratitude for the trust placed in her and emphasized the Council's commitment to effectively implementing competition rules, protecting market competition, and ensuring equal conditions for all market participants. She highlighted a continued focus on identifying, proving, and sanctioning serious violations of competition law that harm the economy and consumers, as well as combating unfair trading practices in the food supply chain.

Having worked at the Croatian Competition Agency since 2004, Dr. Kapural has held various expert and leadership positions, becoming a Council member in 2019. Before her presidency, she served as the Deputy Head of the Department for International and European Cooperation.

Her professional experience includes work in competition law at national, European, and international levels, participating in negotiations for Croatia's EU accession, and collaborating with the European Commission and competition authorities of EU member states.

Dr. Kapural has also contributed to the development of Croatia's competition law framework and has authored numerous expert and scientific papers in the field of competition law.
