Der wettbewerbliche Schwerpunkt der Prüfung lag auf dem Stromerstabsatzmarkt. In der Gesamtbetrachtung der Fusionswirkungen auf dem Stromerstabsatzmarkt war die Verstärkung einer im Prognosezeitraum möglicherweise bestehenden marktbeherrschenden Stellung nicht feststellbar. Aus denselben Gründen war auch eine erhebliche Behinderung wirksamen Wettbewerbs nicht zu erwarten.

German Authority Approves EP Group's Acquisition of Lippendorf Power Plant Block S

The Bundeskartellamt, Germany's competition authority, announced on September 19, 2025, that it has cleared the acquisition of Block S of the Lippendorf power plant by a company of the EP Group.

 The primary focus of the review was on the electricity sales market. After a thorough assessment, the authority found no evidence that the merger would strengthen a potentially dominant market position during the forecast period.

 Furthermore, the authority concluded that the acquisition would not lead to a significant impediment to effective competition in the market.
