On June 9, 2026, the French electronic communication, post and print media distribution regulator, ARCEP, organized a biannual meeting of independent administrative and public authorities (AAI and API). This meeting serves as a vital platform for discussing current regulatory issues at both the French and European levels.

Since late 2024, a working group has been convening quarterly to explore the application of AI in regulatory activities. The group shares use cases and services that leverage AI, and discusses the potential for authorities to collaborate on infrastructure for running AI applications securely.

During the meeting, ARCEP also presented findings from its report titled “The environmental challenges of generative AI,” which includes nine recommendations aimed at addressing these challenges.

The AAI/API network comprises various French regulatory bodies, including the French competition authority, the financial regulator, and the data protection authority, among others. The network facilitates biannual meetings, regular exchanges, and thematic working groups to enhance collaboration and resource sharing among authorities.
