Servizio Energetico Italiano has been fined 900,000 euros by the Italian Competition Authority for activating unsolicited electricity and gas supplies without consumer consent since July 2022.

The Italian Competition Authority imposed a 900,000 euro fine on Servizio Energetico Italiano for breaching consumer protection laws by activating unsolicited energy supplies without consent, requesting undue fees, and obstructing consumers' rights. The company violated Articles 20, 24, and 25 of the Consumer Code by failing to provide contractual documentation, impeding the cooling-off period, and neglecting to ensure consumers' rights to revert to their previous supplier and be compensated for any invoiced amounts.
