The Autorité de la concurrence, France's competition authority, has announced a significant reform in the composition of its Board sections as part of its modernization efforts. The reform increases the number of non-permanent members allowed to sit in sections chaired by the Vice-Presidents from 6 to 12.

This change enables every non-permanent member to collaborate with all other non-permanent members, rather than being limited to their originally assigned section. The aim is to foster a greater variety of working arrangements and utilize the diverse skills of the Board members.

By enhancing the principle of collegiality, the Autorité seeks to strengthen its collective decision-making process, which is essential for ensuring the quality and legitimacy of its actions. However, the composition for plenary hearings and the permanent standing committee remains unchanged, as do the quorum rules.

The reform will take effect for all hearings scheduled from the date of publication.
