CCA experts joined the „Workshop on Unfair Trade Practices and Antitrust” in Warshaw  
                     

Marijana Mutavdžić, head of the Department for legal issues in unfair trading practices and Tajana Blagojević, senior advisor, participated from 11 – 13 September 2024 in the panel discussion of the Workshop on Unfair Trade Practices and Antitrust, organized by the Polish Office of Competition and Consumer Protection within the institutional support for Moldavia and Ukraine in the development of their competition regime. 

The first two days of the workshop were dedicated to unfair trading practices in the food supply chain, while the third day focused on discussions related to antitrust law. The workshop, divided into several sections, included individual presentations on the following topics: legal regulation of unfair trading practices in the food supply chain and the implementation of the EU Directive on unfair trading practices into the national legislation of individual member states, investigations and data collection, demonstrating unfair trading practices, and the costs borne by participants in the food supply chain. 

In the panel discussion “Regulation of unfair trading practices: Implementation in EU member states”, Marijana Mutavdžić spoke about the „Regulation of unfair trading practices in Croatia “, whereas Tajana Blagojević held the presentation on the „Importance of evidence in building a strong case“ in the panel discussion “UTP investigations: Obtaining information about unfair practices and how to demonstrate violations”. 

The third day that was dedicated to the area of antitrust studied the differences between the settlement v leniency program issues and the use of market investigations in the enforcement of competition law.

CCA Experts Participate in Workshop on Unfair Trade Practices and Antitrust in Warsaw

Marijana Mutavdžić and Tajana Blagojević, experts from the Croatian Competition Agency, took part in a workshop on unfair trade practices and antitrust in Warsaw. The event, organized by the Polish Office of Competition and Consumer Protection, aimed to support Moldova and Ukraine in developing their competition regimes.

The workshop spanned three days, with the first two days dedicated to discussions on unfair trading practices in the food supply chain. Topics included the legal regulation of such practices, implementation of EU directives, investigations, and costs in the food supply chain. The third day focused on antitrust law, exploring settlement versus leniency programs and the use of market investigations.

Mutavdžić discussed the regulation of unfair trading practices in Croatia, while Blagojević highlighted the importance of evidence in building strong cases during panel discussions. The workshop aimed to enhance understanding and cooperation in tackling unfair trade practices and enforcing competition law.
