Today, the European Commission and the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) announced the publication of individual contributions received during the public consultation on the draft joint guidelines concerning the interplay between the Digital Markets Act (DMA) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

The consultation saw a high level of participation, with over 100 contributions from a diverse range of stakeholders, including small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), trade associations, gatekeepers, civil society groups, consumer organizations, academics, think tanks, law firms, and individual citizens. The responses indicate strong support for the initiative and highlight the importance of cross-regulatory dialogue to ensure coherence between the enforcement of the DMA and the protection of fundamental rights under the GDPR.

The Commission and the EDPB are currently reviewing the submissions to assess how the draft joint guidelines may need to be adapted. The final guidelines will aim to enhance legal clarity and certainty for businesses and citizens in the EU while ensuring the effectiveness of both the DMA and GDPR.

The adoption of the final guidelines is anticipated in the last quarter of 2026. A link to the published submissions is available on the EDPB website.
