CNMC Releases Provisional Settlements for Electricity and Gas Sectors
The Spanish competition authority, CNMC, has published provisional settlements for the electricity and gas sectors, revealing significant financial discrepancies and trends in energy consumption.

The Comisión Nacional de los Mercados y la Competencia (CNMC) has announced the provisional settlements for the electricity sector for 2025 and 2026, as well as for renewable energies, cogeneration, and waste management. The latest reports indicate notable financial deviations and trends in energy consumption.
In the 13th settlement for 2025 in the electricity sector, a temporary deviation of -1,098.13 million euros was recorded, with total revenues of 13,336.98 million euros against costs of 14,435.11 million euros. The demand for electricity consumption reached 232,519 GWh.
For the first settlement of 2026, the deviation was -860.49 million euros, with revenues of 261.22 million euros and costs of 1,121.71 million euros, reflecting a significant drop in the coverage coefficient to 18%.
The 13th settlement for renewable energies, cogeneration, and waste for 2025 totaled 4,358.43 million euros, with 4,310.66 million euros covered by the electricity sector. The first settlement for 2026 in this category amounted to 420.37 million euros.
In the gas sector, the fourth settlement for 2026 reported total revenues of 627.41 million euros, a 10.5% increase compared to the previous year. The demand for gas reached 92.4 TWh, marking an 8% rise from the previous year.
